Bolton Neighbourhood Engagement - Rumworth

Our project aimed to find out what local residents believe are their community assets and have a conversation about managing health and well-being. Our report published our findings from the feedback we recieved.

Summary:

We collected 180 responses and the key findings are as follows:

  • 40 existing assets were mentioned, however there was a desire for more including a befriending service and cooking classes for boys.
  • Residents recognised many challenges to managing their health and well-being including cost, lack of information and cultural barriers.
  • Residents were generally supportive o0f the new primary care roles, however they wanted better accessibility and for the professionals to have more presence in the community to work on reducing stigma and mis-conceptions.
  • There was a desire for further communication and joint working to take place between residents and particular community groups and professionals.

Conclusions:

Sadly this report only reflects the views of 3 respondents despite the event being widely publicised and as such it is difficult to ascertain if these views are reflective of the neighbourhood as a whole.

It was however evident that there are a large number of community assets in the area that are seen as beneficial, although there are still many barriers that need to be overcome to help support more residents, in particular those from underrepresented communities.
