Bolton Neighbourhood Engagement - Farnworth & Kearsley
This report contains information collected from residents at the Bolton Neighbourhood Engagement in Farnworth & Kearsley around the subjects of managing their own health and well-being together with what they believed to be their community assets.
Summary:
We collected 444 responses from 19 respondents and the key findings are as follows:
- Residents understood that they had a wealth of community assets at their disposal however not assets were developed.
- There was an overwhelming desire by residents to draw on existing assets in their areas and take responsibility for the health and well-being. This enthusiasm did not seem to be matched however by local services.
- Residents welcomed the addition of the new primary care roles and felt they would ease pressure on existing services and reduce waiting times.
- Residents expressed motivation to mobilise their assets and manage aspects of their health and well-being but this would require additional support and collaboration with professionals and services.
- Residents seemed to be aware of what was happening in their neighbourhood in terms of the ‘devolution’ however they suggested more needs to be done in relation to working towards outcomes that work for all.
Conclusions:
Residents appeared to take much pride in their existing assets and felt service managers should tap in to these resources more. For those that were under developed there was a notion that considerations should be made to help revive and build these.
Attendees felt that more support was required from professionals to help them manage their own health and well-being especially when there was such a desire from individuals and as such more mechanisms to help facilitate this should be considered.
