Bolton Neighbourhood Engagement - Turton

Our report highlights the responses gathered from residents in Turton, from the neighbourhood engagement event discussing community assets and managing your own health and well-being.

Summary:

We collected 220 responses from 19 respondents and the key findings are as follows:

  • 60 comments were made about community assets however it was identified that there were limited cultural or faith groups.
  • Much of the responses related to managing health and care focused on a lack of information and the inability of the system to move from talk into action on the self-help agenda.
  • Positive comments were received regarding the new primary care roles and it was felt these could be used to better support local services.
  • Respondents felt professionals should utilise the experiences and expertise of voluntary and community groups more and work on building relationships with these.
  • It was felt that information hubs could be utilised more to share information about service change and developments to ensure residents felt better informed.

Conclusions:

Residents were positive about assets in their community but highlighted how a lack of communication and information around what is going on in the community inhibits their involvement.

There was also a desire for a ‘grass roots’ approach to service development which would encourage the process of them being ‘helped to help themselves’.
