In Bolton, no other engagement activity has taken place with the public on the subject of LCO’s and so patients views on how a good Local Care Organisation would shape up were not known. We undertook engagement work to find out their views.

A questionnaire was developed by Healthwatch Oldham and built on work done by some Greater Manchester LINks who had looked at patient transport in previous years. Nine local Healthwatch undertook the durvey as a joint piece of work.

This report is part of a project commissioned from Healthwatch Bolton by Bolton GP Federation. The work took place at various sites in the Chorley Roads area.

Our proposal was to work with staff from ‘NHS Business Services, employees used allocated annual volunteering time to gather interview responses from their colleagues covering views on working well on local services, workplace health and dentistry.

This project was to inspire people to get involved with local discussions and consultations about the future of health care and to ensure that those who do get involved are wellinformed about what works and why.

Our engagement officers spoke to people at a local dementia café to gain comments, experiences and views on the topic of dementia.

The aim of this project was to gain a greater understanding of the support, experience and impact itself for individuals at various points including: the situation itself, diagnosis, on services, end of care and any other issues.

We invited public and professionals to gather people’s experiences on Dementia, looking at different stages including: prior to diagnosis, diagnosis and the short time following this, living with dementia and deterioration and end of life care.

This report highlights the feedback gained from attendees to our neighbourhood engagement event. The hope was to find out what local residents believe are their community assets and have a conversation about managing health and well-being.

Across the borough the subject of transport was often cited as a barrier to staying well. This report contains the comments concerning this subject in order that the topic can be considered by people responsible for workforce development.
